Wai Mhu Than, Student
Myanmar
Wai Mhu Than, 12 years old, grade one student, is studies at basic education primary school at Mong Mai village. His father is a lead teacher, working for UWS, and his mother serves as a community teacher in this village.
“I am very proud to be a son of teachers. My dream is to become a medical doctor. I must study harder to realize my dream. Sometimes, I want to stay with my parents, but it is not possible for the time being as both of them are serving in different communities. My father is my hero. He is working hard as a lead teacher for villages in Kyaing Tong. I am still lucky that my mom is near me. She is teaching in Mong Mai village.
I do have many friends in this school. All of them are Palaung ethnicity. My father is Burmese, and my mom is Lahu ethnicity. Even though I am not Palaung ethnicity, all my friends love me so much.
They told me they were very lucky to have my mom as a teacher in this village. During their parent’s time, there was no school in this village. I really want to thank UWS for building the school in this community and employing my parents as teachers”.
